A "family member" is defined as any 21 year old or older male relative of an indivisual who is serving or has served in any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States of America on foreign shores or foreign waters is eligible to become a member of the Dads of Foriegn Service Veterans of the United States. Service in Alaska and Hawaii must have been prior to 1959.
Membership in this organization shall be confined to a family member as defined above whose relative is in or did serve in any branch of the Armed Forces of this Nation and who has serve4d on any foreign soil or foreign waters be recognized as a Foreign Service Veteran.
All such service rendered must be honorable. A dishonorable discharge shall be considered sufficient grounds to bar a family member from membership in this organization
Any family member whose relative recieved a dishonorable discharge from armed service during his membership, shall remain a member, and shall not be penalized for the action of his family member.
Life memberships
The Dads is a special organization and one of the few that offer life memberships. A member in good standing may become a life member by submitting life membership application card and the proper fee to the Post Secretary or Post Treasurer. Life membership fees shall be charged in accordance with the following schedule.
50 and under: $150.00
56 to 60: $120.00
61 to 65: $105.00
66 to 70: $80.00
71 to 75: $50.00
76 and over: $35.00
Application for New Members
Any applicant for membership in the DADS of Foreign Service Veterans who is eligible for membership and / or in the Veterans of Foriegn Wars, must first make application to that organization and / or be a member in good standings before his application can be acted upon.
Acceptance of New Members
All final action on all applicants shall be by a vote of the post members present at any regular meeting or special meeting held for that purpose, and if as many as three (3) members vote "nay", the applicant will be rejected.
The president shall announce the results of each vote and it shall be permissable to vote on each one as they are presented, or to vote on them as a group, as the Post sees fit.
All fees collected from a rejected applicant will be refunded to him, explaining that it is permissable for him to present his name a second time if he sees fit to do so, but if rejected a second time will be considered final.
All applicants who have been accepted for membership shall be notified in writing by the Post Secretary, and shall be mailed their dues card and encouraged to attend the next scheduled regular Post meeting.
